It is believed that the Institute will provide a highly dynamic platform, which could lead to the sustainable opportunities through acquisition of new knowledge and skills opening opportunities for quality employment, improved standards of living and economic growth in India. Some of the specific objectives of the Institute include:

• To provide a platform for Indians, non-resident Indians, and other outside experts who may be able to contribute based on their expertise by providing knowledge, advice, technology transfer and other related areas, for strengthening the competence of the next generation leaders of India. In order to accomplish this objective, the Institute will focus on short-term courses/workshops, alliances and other activities. The Institute has now established a track record in accomplishing these objectives. The Institute is also working to establish a database of non-resident Indians, with expertise in some of these critical public health areas.

• Given the rapidly advancing science and technologies, the Institute on its platform will continue to press forward on training activities using creative methodologies that can meet global standards and thus, improve competitiveness and create more opportunities for the workforce in these high entry barrier areas, including Public Health, Food and Agriculture, Water and Energy Resources. The Institute’s founders believe that the trained workforce must be competitive in the global market place.

• The Institute’s founders believe that knowledge is important for people to make choices and decisions with respect to their health. There is a wealth of information on a variety of diseases, including cancer, diabetes, coronary artery disease and psychiatric diseases. The Institute has a long term goal of establishing software-driven friendly educational tools in English and other local languages to provide health information. This would include both preventive, treatment and disease management tools. The Institute has established active partnerships to offer these tools through the Institute.

• The Institute will also advance the importance of public accountability and social responsibility by providing a forum for further dialog through experts.

• The Institute will also press forward active partnerships and collaborations with other non-profit and for-profit organizations, to support Institute’s mission as a charitable organization.

The Institute has been active since it was founded in 2004 and it is continuing to advance several of these activities while adding some new initiatives to its platform. The Institute has also established global partnerships with some of the leading US organizations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The Institute is also in consultation with another US organization, which is active in developing models to offer solutions for rural health care delivery. The Institute is also working with other global organizations to be part of our effort to make a difference in the lives of people in India.
